VA Great Falls Walk - Sunday, Oct 28,  VA Great Falls State Park

Eight enthusiastic MAC members enjoyed a great walk along the VA side of Great Falls on Sunday, Oct. 28. The waterfall views were beautiful and the weather was perfect with the leaves turning colors. After slight adventure in gentle rock climbing, more members joined in Rita and Paul's house for potluck dinner. What a nice kickoff for the fall/winter activities! Sincere thanks to Rita and Paul for hosting the evening fun.

Great Falls Walk in May, Friday, May 11, 10:30 am, Great Falls State Park

Thanks to Julia and Jean's coordination, the group had a pleasant spring walk followed by outdoor lunch among spring flowers. There were 10 of us present(9 BEINU girls and Rita's husband Paul as honorary photographer). We were so happy to see our club charter member Liu Kang (she looks great and energetic in the midst of nursing back her health), plus new members Maria and Amy (class of '65, both travel far from Columbia, MD). With positive feedbacks from the gathering, we may plan for another Great Falls walk on the Virginia side in October.

Japanese Music Demo

Feb 24, 2007  The Asian Arts & Culture Center at Towson University hosted an important exhibition, Fired with Passion:
           Contemporary Ceramics of Japan,
followed by a refined Japanese Dance and Music program "Poetry in Motion" in the
           center theater.

According to Suewhei Shieh (BEINU '68, director of the center):
"I hope our visitors can relate to the ceramics exhibition in two folds.  One, to gain understanding of the classic traditions of
Japanese ceramics through the vessel forms, and two, to see the transformation from utilitarian forms to the dramatic sculptural
manifestations. Our audience can relate to the freedom that the Japanese modern artists enjoy in creating highly individual and
unconventional works as they shake off the shackles of strict traditions."

The exhibit and related program will be at the center until May 10th.

On the same day (Feb. 24), we watched the Met Opera life broadcast of "Eugene
Onegin" in Columbia, MD.  What a treat to experience the two world class
         performers leading the major roles!
